About the Author
João Miguel Barros, born in 1958, is a Portuguese photographer, curator and researcher. Alongside his professional career as a lawyer, he has devoted the past fifteen years extensively to photography, with a particular interest in contemporary Chinese and Japanese photographic practices.
He has published several photobooks as an author, receiving international awards and distinctions for his work. As a curator, he has collaborated with cultural institutions in Portugal, Macau and China, and was selected to represent Macau at the 2022 Venice Art Biennale.
His photographic and curatorial practice is distinguished by a sustained interest in visual narrative, memory, cultural dialogue and the possibilities of the photobook as an independent artistic form.
