OCHRE KIDS presents Atlas das Pequenas Invisibilidades at Mercado da Ajuda
From May 22 to June 22, 2026, Mercado da Ajuda hosts Atlas of Small Invisibilities, the final exhibition of OCHRE KIDS — an educational project developed by OCHRE SPACE at Escola Básica Alexandre Herculano, in Ajuda.
Coordinated by Susana Paiva and active since November 2023, the project involves all students at the school, promoting an inclusive and cross-disciplinary artistic experience through photography. Throughout the academic year, children between the ages of 6 and 10 participated in workshops and activities led by photography professionals, exploring the image as a tool for expression, observation, and critical thinking.
Working within a microcosm of nearly 100 students, OCHRE KIDS seeks to foster equal opportunities in access to artistic creation and visual literacy. At a time marked by the overwhelming circulation of images and visual misinformation, the project establishes itself as a space for learning, reflection, and the construction of perspective.
The exhibition brings together works produced by students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades of EB Alexandre Herculano during the 2025/2026 school year, making public a creative process developed over months of experimentation and discovery.
More than a school exercise, Atlas of Small Invisibilities reveals singular ways of seeing everyday life, giving visibility to details, gestures, and perspectives that often go unnoticed.
OCHRE KIDS is a project by OCHRE SPACE with the support of Junta de Freguesia da Ajuda.
